From time to time, Wellington Rotary Club recognises people from outside Rotary who have made a significant contribution in their community.
On Friday 23rd June our guest was Peggy Doran who worked for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association for many years. She recently received an award from the association for thirty years’ service. She started her work with the association whilst still running a motor cycle shop in Wellington. Peggy acted as Publicity Officer for the local branch for much of the time with Guide Dogs but she also took retired guide dogs into her care.
President John Wardle said, ‘With over 30 years contributing to the work of the Guide Dogs Association, Peggy has fulfilled the best of Rotary Ethics – Service above Self. I am honoured to present a Community Service Award to Peggy today.”
