Wellington Town Mayor visits to thank members

At the first meeting of his year, Club President Geoff hosted the Mayor of Wellington, Paul Davis. The Mayor had asked to attend a meeting to thank Rotarians for their support at various events in the Town over recent months.

Over lunch the Mayor became aware that Rotarians were expecting him to speak for ten minutes or so after lunch – somewhat longer than the thanks he had prepared. The Mayor duly obliged and gave a very interesting talk about the town, the council and the regeneration that has, and is, taking place, and he responded to members’ questions.

In thanking club members, the Mayor also presented a plaque from the council.

Mayor or Wellington Paul Davis presents Club President Geoff Foulkes with the plaque from Wellington Town Council recognising the Club’s “unwavering commitment and dedication to Wellington”. With them, outside the Club’s meeting venue at the Pheasant Inn at Admaston, are Rotarians Dan Scollard-Kerr, Terry Ridgway, Jim Tranter and Haydn Griffiths.
