District 1210/1060 Technology Competition

Our Young Innovator from Charlton School, Katherine Eatough, entered the District 1210/1060 Technology Competition staged at Bromsgove School in July. Judging took place over the whole day and unfortunately Katherine was not placed in the 1st three places. Her design of a Jewellery Box was considered well thought out and executed but with 20+ other competitors attending the standard was fierce.

Overall David Scott from Shrewsbury Sixth Form College triumphed with an Impossible Wheel design. Megan Walsh from Coventry was 2nd with a stunning jacket design and Angus Hall from KES Stratford was placed 3rd with his Modern Guitar design.

When I first entered the exhibition hall I remembered Katherine from somewhere. I eventually recalled having presented her a junior cricket award at Wellington Cricket Club the previous Summer. She was accompanied by her father for the whole day who was very appreciative of the support of the Rotary Club of Wellington. Watch this space for Katherine in future as she will now attend New College and has set her sights on winning our Bursary in 2 years time.  [Peter Williams]
