The Grand National Hotel, Newcastle-under-Lyme was the venue for an evening of Indian Culture to support the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project. President Peter Seaward along with Maureen Powell and members and friends of the Rotary Club of Wellington attended the event, together with members from other Clubs and the District Governor.
The evening commenced with a selection of Indian food, such as samosas and Bhaji’s. This was followed by a display of Bharathanatyam dancing presented by a junior Indian traditional dance troupe in gorgeous costumes who performed to a very high standard.
There followed an Indian meal with several curries which was enjoyed by all.
The work of the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project was explained and updated with thanks given to all the supporting Clubs. Maureen Powell was also thanked for the work of the late Past District Governor Gerry Powell of the Rotary Club of Wellington for all his work in support of the Project in the past.
A good Raffle followed which raised over £1200 for the Rotary Jaipur Limb Project which was enhanced by a gift of £5000 from the Hotelier Mr Richie Sharma.
