Scattering to Church Stretton

Rotarian Mike Heath writes:

On a very dark night 13 intrepid members ventured south via that ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ breaking their journey to imbibe at the home of he who speaks so much of it.

We were made most welcome at the Longmynd Hotel by President George and members of the Rotary Club of Church Stretton and enjoyed a most interesting talk from a local GP who said he was proud to work for the NHS and living in Church Stretton. He had no intention of returning to his birth home in South Africa.

The £13 meal was soup served from a tureen on each table, a Stretton member officiated. There was enough for two helpings each. The main course was none-rubber chicken in a rich sauce with braised vegetables and mash, followed by coffee or tea.

A good evening of fellowship, a speaker and interesting food. The friendly Club was pleased for us to swell their number.
