Wrekin Rider’s BMX Project

WREKIN RIDERS BMX TRACK CLUB DAWLEY

A definite success and project completion with the Rotary Wellington Club House and Toilet Unit being lifted into place during the last week in May. It’s a pity that the youngsters of the club can’t meet at the moment to make use of the facilities.

The Club House was fully funded by Rotary Wellington, the Toilet Unit was financed with a matching District Grant and a Telford and Wrekin Council grant of £6000 paid for the builderswork.

Kirsty Smallman reported last week that during the coronavirus lockdown, one of the club parents – Paul the builder was able to install the concrete base, including water supply, drainage and power for the accommodation units. John and Sam Evenson of Hire This Ltd supplied the club house and toilet accommodation units and they arranged for their hiab lorry crane to lift the units to the final locations free of charge.

Kirsty has plans for the quadrangle between the club office/shop, the club house and toilet unit to be roofed over to create an outdoor sheltered communal area with tables and benches. What tremendous facilities they have which will be great for next year’s National BMX Track Championships which had to be postponed this year. They expect over 3000 attendance.

Kirsty says “We cannot thank you enough for all you have done”.
