Fellowship’s a load of Bowls

Bowls Captain Venn Davies writes:

On Tuesday 12th July at the The Bowring Park, Haygate Road, we played The Probus Club of Wellington at Crown Green Bowls.

Within minutes of the 2 o’clock start the heavens opened and the players had to be called in.

We took an early tea.  Beautiful home made cake and sandwiches etc kindly supplied by the wives/partners of our opponents.

The rain eased, the water drained from the green and we were back ‘on course’! A mighty tussle ensued with members who had not played before being coached and cajoled by those who claimed they did know one end of a bowl from the other.

Rotary triumphed, but the real triumph was the Fellowship with the very friendly folk from Probus. A return match is being threatened!
