John and the Great Little Trains

The Rotary Club of Prestatyn have a Trust Fund that provides holidays for elderly men.  The Rotary Club of Wellington were invited to nominated three people to particpate.  Club member John Rice was a last minute replacement.  John writes:

I was joined at Wellington Bus Station by two other gentlemen for the start of our journey to Wales.  We stayed at the Westminster Hotel in Rhyl which is situated on the promenade.  Within a short time of arriving I was whisked off to Prestatyn where I was welcomed by the President and members of their Rotary Club.  It was an exciting and inspiring first day.  I had a trip on the Welsh Highland Railway, on the Conway Valley line and on the Festiniog Railway.  My final memory to what was a perfect holiday was driving through the Llanberis Pass in beautiful October evening sunshine.  [More about John’s expedition can be found in the next edition of Rotabilia.]
