The 2015 1210 District Croquet shield was presented last night by DG Richard to captain Rob Evans of Wellington.
Having beaten Blythe Bridge, Stafford Knot, Stafford Castle we played Aldridge in early May. In terrible conditions we came out 4-2 winners to meet Brewood in the final on 24th May 2016. With three of our players in China, Portugal and other places around the world we needed to take as strong a team as possible and so needed drastic action. On Monday John Banks was called into the squad of Venn Davies, Andy Kaleta, Peter Seaward, David Tomkinson & Peter Williams. Even though he lacked experience, after an hour on my lawn I could see he could help us over the line.
In a tense final against Brewood, the result went to the last hoop, before Wellington emerged victorious by 3 games all, and 38 hoops to 37. Congratulations to both teams for providing an exciting conclusion to the competition.
