36 years as Father Christmas

On every Christmas morning – for as long as club members can remember – Father Christmas, alias Rtn. Tom Farmer of the Rotary Club of Wellington, together with Mrs Christmas and a group of elves have called at Farcroft Nursing Home in Wellington. In the residents’ lounge areas presents are given out and opened while Christmas greetings are shared with all. Tom, whose birthday is on Christmas Day, first took on the role of Santa Claus in 1977. He says that the visit to Farcroft where he is doing something for those less fortunate makes his Christmas Day more special. He added that he is not yet ready to retire!
