Charlton School Presentation Evening

The photograph on the left is of Peter Martin (President) and Dave Roberts (Youth Services) presenting Leah Johnson wth a certificate and a £25 book token. She won the Rotary Young Persons Award for Design and Innovation (Young Innovator Competition). Leah’s winning entry was for a textile freeze and a stamp design on a cushion.

Peter and David also presented the 6 Highly Commended Certificates, 2 Runner-up Certificates, each receiving book tokens to the value of £10.

The guest speaker was Talan Skeels-Piggins (photographed on the right).

Talan was a Medal winner in the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Alpine Skiing, previously a Royal Naval Officer until his motorcycle accident in 2003, when he was paralysed from the chest down and then joined the Royal Naval Reserves. Talan gave an excellent motivational speech on how he overcame his adversity after his accident.

The presentation was on Thursday 21st November 2013. It was an excellent evening and Wellington Rotary attendance was much appreciate by staff of Charlton School.
