This year Chris Yates organised our annual Film Night, (ably assisted by David Roberts and many Rotarians acting as ushers, barmen and draw ticket sellers). John Rice had run the last nine Film Nights to a standard that made it hard to follow, but everything went splendidly.
More than 200 guests used two screens at the Odeon with the kind permission of manager Nettie Small.
The choice of film – Quartet – with its totally British cast playing at top form was a winner. Not a word of criticism could be heard as the happy audience dispersed. Some were happier than others namely the lucky draw winners Caroline Osborn, Judy Yates and Ann Kirby.
The evening yielded a total of £3,100 of which £1,000 will go to the Odeon’s charities (the NSPCC and the Variety Club) and the remainder to our own choice the Severn Hospice.
